It is called ‘the town of the two lakes’, and indeed Avigliana retains that charm intact, which can be found in more than one legend linked to the presence of the basins that are peculiar to it.
Walking through the medieval village, we will talk about the Susa Valley and its history closely bound up with the one of Turin, about the life and fundamental steps that made Avigliana first a flourishing town - a small jewel on the pilgrimage route - then a fortified city.
We will discover the events that characterised it up to the time when it was unable to survive the devastating sieges that put it to the sword.
Nevertheless, Avigliana conceals unsuspected art treasures such as the sublime paintings by Defendente Ferrari in the Church of San Giovanni: a true joy for the eyes and spirit
